2010 September Bulletin

Brothers:  our next regular meeting will be held on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at 7:00PM
in the AHEPA Room of the Ascension Cathedral in Oakland.  Brother Ben Gipson will preside.
I will be on vacation at the time of this meeting.

During our June meeting the officers that were elected to serve for the upcoming year were sworn into office.
In addition, father Tom Zaferes gave a presentation pertaining to the Ascension Cathedral’s maintenance requirements
and asked us to see if AHEPA can come through again and help out the situation.  Later on the members present at the
meeting expressed various opinions, and the President suggested the Officers and the Board of Governors consider all
options at their summer meeting.  The Chapter officers and the Board of Governors met on August 10th and decided to
propose to the Ascension Parish Council the following:  AHEPA will seek approval from the membership to pay, up to
$3,000.00, for materials and the AHEPA brothers will provide the labor to paint the inside and outside of the Church
property on Silverwood Ave., and also do yard maintenance as needed.   This will be a good deal for the Church.
The Council President has agreed to it.

The District Convention that was held in Stockton was very well attended and was deemed very successful.
The Stockton Chapter made a profit of approximately $7K from the event.  We were requested by the District Governor
to hold the 2011 District Convention and all (eight) Oakland Chapter members present agreed.
The president conferred with the Daughters and they in turn agreed.  Brother Stephen Miller has been appointed Chairman
and Bill Anton Vice Chairman.  They have made reservations at the Pleasanton Hilton for June 23-24, 2011.
Details will follow at a later date.

Enclosed are two flyers, one is an application for the Nap Dokos Scholarship and the other is for the Reno trip planned
by Dionysios Litsas.  They are self-explanatory.
